Meet the Team
This section allows you to meet the Freedom Social Projects staff:
Philip Noall
Project Manager

Phil joined the team in Sept 2003 as the Project Co-ordinator and was responsible for laying foundations and implementing a structure to the then embryonic work of the drop-in. Following an 18 year career in Banking Phil brought a wealth of Management and Finance experience to the organization and during his first year he attained the ‘Advanced Certificate in the Management of Substance Use’ which helped shape the growing services. Phil has seen the organisation grow and expand into what it is today. As the overall Projects Manager Phil is now responsible for the day to day delivery of existing and developing services.

Nigel Harris
Development Manager

Nigel joined the team in February 2006, initially working as a consultant to restructure the charity, review the strategic direction and implement change management. Bringing a background of management consulting, senior management in marketing and product development and owning and running a small business, he brings a broad mix of business skills and experience.  Nigel has now taken on the role of Development Manager looking at developing or enhancing services, fundraising and all things legal and commercial.

Patricia Claus
Marketing Support

Patti joined the team in February 2008 and is working on a time limited project to improve the Marketing and PR aspects of Freedom Social Projects. She has been responsible for the creation of this website, the redesign of the project newsletter and the artwork design for Freedom Salvage plus a wide range of other in house initiatives. With her degree in Business Administration Patti has brought to the table a wide range of skills and abilities that have helped Freedom Social Projects move to the next level.

Rebecca Harris

Rebecca joined the admin department in April 2006 and now leads a small team of Staff and Volunteers who support the front line work of the Projects. Having previously worked in both the commercial and the voluntary sector Rebecca brings a broad range of skills and experiences to the table. Prior to her employment Rebecca worked as a volunteer for Freedom and has been at the centre of many of its developments. 

Joanne Lane
Administrator's Support

Joanne joined the team in March 2008 as the need arose to increase the administrative function. With a background of over 20 years in administration and already working for the Charity on a different project, Jo took up the challenge of helping Freedom Social Projects achieve its goals and aims in the months and years ahead.

Deb Parsons
Day Centre Team Leader

Deb joined the team in June 2003 and is now the Team Leader for the Day Centre. She supervises her team of Staff and Volunteers and ensures the support services offered to clients are to the highest standard. As one of the longest serving members of the team Deb has been with the organisation through all its stages of growth and development. Her experience of working with this client group is a tremendous asset.


Steve Burtnyk

Day Centre Project Worker

Steve joined the team in July 2008 as a Day Centre Project Worker. Having originally trained as a Psychiatric Nurse, Steve spent 23 years working in the Health Service in a range of settings and environments. This was followed by 10 years of community support work with vulnerable people. Steve brings a wealth of experience and skills to the team and is looking forward to the opportunity of applying these skills to benefit clients of the Freedom Day Centre.

Geoff Ansell
Day Centre Project Worker

Geoff joined the Team in January 2009 filling a vacancy for a Day Centre Project Worker. Having initially qualified as an accountant and spending 25 years in this industry Geoff has a wealth of professional experience at his fingertips. He then took a career change into support work and has spent the last 14 years in this field. Geoff has a wealth of experience in coaching, mentoring and helping people develop their skills and achieve their goals in life. Whilst the environment of the Day Centre is unfamiliar for Geoff we are excited to see how his skills will help shape the growing services on offer.

Alice Westcott
Kitchen Team Leader
Alice joined the team in Sept 2007 as the Kitchen Manager. Her responsibilities are broad ranging and include the oversight and delivery of a healthy nutritious daily meal, the management and support of the kitchen volunteer team and the development of a client volunteering scheme where clients of the centre are given the opportunity to be trained and developed as volunteers. With a passion for cooking, a good understanding of the client group and a background in teaching Alice was the ideal person to join the team.
Teresa Davies
Life Skills Development

Teresa joined the team in September 2008 and heads up the Life Skills Development Programmes. Although initially qualifying as a chef, she has been delivering training programmes in the community since 2005. Teresa previously worked for North Devon College working specifically with vulnerable people and brings a person centred approach to her teaching. Her programmes aim to improve skills and give opportunity for clients to engage in meaningful activities. She is also responsible for supervising the gym and is currently studying to be a qualified gym instructor.

Jeremy Westcott
Debt Counsellor, Christians Against Poverty
Jeremy joined the team in April 2007. He works 3 days a week offering CAP’s free service to those struggling to repay their debts. His role is to visit clients in their own homes and help them become free of debt within 5 years, whilst maintaining a reasonable standard of living for themselves and their families. Much of the rest of his time is dedicated to Freedom Social Enterprises, particularly selling on ebay.
